What is a Long-Term Care Ombudsman? A Long-Term Care Ombudsman is a trained advocate for residents living in care facilities in our community. An Ombudsman • Helps protect the rights of our most vulnerable citizens • Educates residents and families about their rights • Helps resolve complaints • Investigates abuse in facilities • Works to ensure quality of life for those living in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities The Ombudsman’s office maintains lists of facilities in your area as well as other resources to help you make an informed decision. All services are free of charge and confidential.
