Big guys on the corner

Does the vehicle code say that larger vehicles like SUVs or minivans have to park farther back from the street corner? I can’t see around these huge vehicles to see if traffic is coming. It’s dangerous.

You’re telling me! I thought I upgraded when I went from my early ‘90s compact car to my 2005 sedan but it turns out I’m still visibility challenged, often finding myself eye-to-eye with either a large vehicle’s headlights or grill each morning as I’m leaving for work. It can be downright scary, especially since drivers on this road almost always violate the speed limit and rarely decelerate when they see any of us residents inching our way out precariously from our driveways. If only there were speed bumps to slow them down. Alas, there are none (yet).
I also occasionally have the urge to pull out some trimmers to cut down shrubs in parking lots because I can’t see over them either, but I digress.

Napa Police Sgt. Tom Pieper said that he fields complaints about these monstrosities blocking one’s view but there’s no code that says that larger vehicles have to be farther from the corner than any other vehicle.
Now that a gallon of gas is more expensive than a small cup of delicious gourmet coffee (and a lot less tasty, I presume), perhaps we will be fortunate enough to see fewer gas-guzzlers on the road. Until then, invest in a good booster seat or channel MacGyver to invent a makeshift long-necked mirror extension to act as a second pair of eyes.
