Evans for Assembly

Assemblywoman Noreen Evans is seeking her third and final term of office in the California state Assembly.

In her four years she has been a strong advocate for threatened social service programs, has crafted legislation that has boosted local flood control projects, the wine industry and the non-profit sector, and has been a principled voice on the state’ ceaseless budget problems.
We endorse Noreen Evans for re-election to the state assembly.

Evans has proven to be a quick study in Sacramento and as a result of that and the dominance of the Democratic Party in the state Legislature, next year she will be chair of the Assembly Budget Committee. There can be no bigger or more thankless task in California these days than to run that committee, as the deficit Evans will be tasked with erasing will be in the billions of dollars.
Evans is a reliably Democratic voice in the Legislature, and yet struck a note of caution in 2004. When nearly all leaders on both sides of the aisle supported the $15 billion state debt restructuring bond, Evans opposed it. In the wake of continuing budget struggles and the state’s failure to capitalize on the voters’ largesse at that time, her independent stance suggests she can exert leadership now in getting this problem under control.

Evans has represented Napa County and the Seventh District capably, and we believe she will continue to do so.
Finally, Evans’ rival, Doris Gentry, simply does not have the experience and has not demonstrated the expertise to represent the region in Sacramento. In two meetings with the Register editorial board, she has given little indication that she is a student of the legislative process or has concrete, realistic ideas for taking the state forward.

We endorse Noreen Evans for Assembly on Nov. 4.

" Let’s all run down to the Register and throw a sacrificial marble down the gutter….protest march around an SUV with our unintellectual signs, singing anti-reggie songs and snivel about the Register’s endorsement while we smoke a beer…….

The messiah has arrived….or at least a faux simile. "

" Of course Evans is "reliably Democratic", she thinks the solution to every problem is a tax increase.... "

" Bad government starts at home. Evans wants to eliminate the 2/3 majority to increase taxes. She will bury us in state taxes.
Rejection of Mike Thompson and Evans is the only way to start cleaning up our bad government. "

" The NVR endorsement of Evans was unfortunate. I have always believed that Local and State Government was supposed to be staffed and run by the "Common Man" as it is a civic duty to contribute to the welfare of the community.

Evans has been a part of the failed Democraticly held state legislature that is driving California in bankruptcy. Even in Editorial interview she discussed getting rid of the Republicans, the minority voice to control the State.

It is a sad day for the state of California if we return this woman to Sacramento as she will be the new Chairman of the Assembly Budget Committee. She will find new ways to tax and redistribute our hard earned dollars. "
