SACRAMENTO — California voters are almost evenly split on a ballot measure that would require parental notification before most teenagers could get an abortion, according to a new Field Poll.

Forty-five percent of likely voters support Proposition 4, while 43 percent oppose it, according to the poll released Friday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.

The poll also found that the four bond measures on next Tuesday’s statewide ballot are leading, but they have differing levels of support.

Proposition 3, which would authorize the sale of $980 million in state bonds to pay for construction, remodeling, furnishing and equipping children’s hospital, was supported by 54 percent of the 966 likely voters questioned by Field pollsters. Thirty-five percent were opposed.

Proposition 12, which would allow the sale of $900 million in bonds to pay for home and farm loans to veterans, was backed by 58 percent of those questioned and opposed by 29 percent.

Proposition 1A, which would allow the state to sell $9.95 billion in bonds to help pay for a high-speed rail line between the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas and fund conventional rail projects, was supported by 47 percent and opposed by 42 percent.

Proposition 10, which would authorize $5 billion in bonds to promote the sale of natural gas and other alternative-fuel vehicles, led 49 percent to 39 percent.

The poll was conducted by telephone between Oct. 18 and Oct. 28.
