Last week: Colby Silva had a fumble recovery and Juan Martinez and David Smith sparked Napa’s defense as it shut out Vacaville’s explosive offense over the final 11⁄2 quarters of a 50-35 victory that clinched a share of the MEL title. Vintage kept its playoff hopes alive with a 42-21 rout at Armijo, as Jacob Roscoe returned from injury to score a career-best four TDs and 181 yards on 18 carries.

Last year: Sean Ryan’s 10-of-19 passing for 134 yards, Trevor McLaughlin’s 27-yard TD run and Roscoe’s 1-yard TD run were all Vintage could muster as Napa’s defense pitched a second-half shutout in a 38-14 victory. Michael Ruffino had five tackles and Tyler Hansell, Colby Silva and Clinton Gorsuch each had three tackles to lead the Indians’ juniors in the game.
Keys to the game: Ryan nets 142 passing yards a game and Napa gives up 138, so he’ll likely get his yards. A key will be how well the Crushers’ offensive line can open holes for its running backs. Napa’s offense has averaged 43 points in its last five games, so it’s a good thing Vintage found a way to score 42 last week.
