Indians' Ruffino, Blom take top MEL honors

Napa High senior Michael Ruffino is the Player of the Year and senior Collin Blom is the Co-Lineman of the Year on this season’s All-Monticello Empire League football team.

On the First Team Offense for Napa are Charlie Schumacher and Max Wagenknecht at tackle, Justin Ruffino at guard, Brandon Washington at wide receiver, Charles Boyett at running back and Michael Ruffino at tight end.
The First Team Defense includes Vintage’s Cesar Bogarin and Napa’s Scott Dinov on the line, Napa’s Daniel Burgess and Michael Ruffino at linebacker, and Washington and Vintage’s Trevor McLaughlin in the secondary.

Vintage’s Jacob Roscoe and Napa’s Logan Hess (running backs) and the Crushers’ Reed Huddleston (tight end), Bryson Daniels (center), Sean Ryan (quarterback) and Jonny Avalos (kicker) made the Second Team Offense.
The Second Team Defense includes Napa linemen David Smith and Blom, Boyett (secondary) and Vintage’s Kyle Archer and Jake Callanan (linebackers).

Napa’s Tyler Hansell and Ben Ballantine and Vintage’s Patrick Kiser, Paul Archer and Taylor Simone earned Honorable Mention recognition.
Blom shares Lineman of the Year honors with Armijo’s Ed Johnstone. The Back of the Year is Fairfield quarterback Keith Welch Jr.
