Storm wins after losing opener of own tourney

The Napa Valley College men’s basketball team held off De Anza-Cupertino 73-72 on Sunday in a losers-bracket game of the Wine Country Classic at NVC.
The Dons took a 72-71 lead with 20 seconds left, but after a Storm timeout, Napa Valley came up with the winning basket.
On Friday night, the Storm opened the tournament with an 81-65 loss to Santa Rosa Junior College.
Napa Valley trailed 38-28 at halftime and never seriously threated after that, despite 18 points from Ashton Foster and 11 from Scott Sewel.
In other games Friday, Siskiyous beat DeAnza 102-72, Chabot downed Redwoods 61-52, and Modesto beat Mendocino 78-73. On Saturday, Redwood played Mendocino, Chabot faced Modesto and Siskiyous battled Santa Rosa.
