Justin-Siena football title game moved to Alhambra

Justin-Siena High School will play in its fifth CIF North Coast Section championship football game in nine years Friday when the Braves face Salesian-Richmond at 7 p.m. at Alhambra-Martinez.

Janelle Travis had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists in the Braves’ nonleague loss Tuesday night to Ursuline-Santa Rosa.

JV Girls Basketball: Vintage 49, Benicia 10

A run of 17 unanswered points to start the game set the tone and the Crushers never looked back in their season opener Tuesday night.

JV Girls Basketball: Justin-Siena 45, Ursuline 39

Justin-Siena shot 80 percent from free-throw line, including 4-for-4 in the last minute, to seal the win in Tuesday night’s nonleague game.

Freshman Girls Basketball: Ursuline 40, Justin-Siena 26

Ashley Ford led the Braves with 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in Tuesday’s nonleague game in Clark Gym. Lacey Orona added six points. Justin-Siena went on an 11-3 second-quarter run to go into halftime down 19-13. The Braves could only manage three points in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Girls Basketball: Vintage 37, Benicia 24

Kailee Simmons (eight points), Sarah Murdock (six points), Danika Schmid (10 rebounds) and Isabel Vito led the way in Tuesday’s season-opening game for Vintage, which had 23 steals.

JV Girls Basketball: Wine Valley Classic Tournament

The 22nd annual Wine Valley Classic Basketball Tournament for JV girls starts today at Vintage and continues Friday and Saturday.
