2:15 p.m.A man reported missing for several days was found dead this afternoon in Lake Berryessa, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Department.

The body of a male adult was found by county sheriff's department divers in 20 feet of water near the shore at Spanish Flat Resort — which is currently closed to the public — Capt. Jean Donaldson said.
Deputies have tentatively identified the body as that of the missing man, Donaldson said. His identity will be released once next of kin are notified, he said.

The sheriff’s department received a report earlier today that a Berryessa man had not been seen for several days, Donaldson said.
Investigators found the man’s car at the resort. The body was located within 10 minutes after divers entered the lake.

The case remains under investigation.

" Very sad to hear. Very sad. But my point exactly as to why I will NEVER swim at Berryessa. "

" That's right littleone--you never know who you'll bump into. That's why I don't drink Budweiser as well.

I'm afraid I don't get your point at all. At this point we know nothing about the person or how he drowned (if in fact he did drown). So exactly what does this particular event have to do with swimming at Lake Berryessa or not? "

" Sad day for the man's family -- what he was doing at the closed resort and what led to his demise would be interesting to know. "

" This is very sad what ever happened to this man, he is longer among us. :( But if ALL these resorts weren't closed maybe this could have prevented! For the safety of everyone that would like to visit the lake, We need to be able to access the lake easily and safely. Open Lake Berryessa to the people! NOW! "
