Two men were arrested Thursday, including one after a short chase in a vineyard off of Highway 121 near Wooden Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 6 p.m., CHP Officer Jeff Dunlap was helping out at a minor collision on Highway 121, when drivers who passed by reported an “extremely intoxicated driver” north of there.
Dunlap was able to catch up with the vehicle on Highway 121, CHP Jaret Paulson said Friday. The car, a red 1991 Chevy Lumina, then turned into a dirt road off of Highway 121 past Wooden Valley Road.
An off-duty motorcycle police officer from Martinez saw Dunlap and followed him as Dunlap chased the suspects, according to the CHP. As Dunlap detained the driver in his car, the off-duty officer ran after the passenger and stopped him as he tried to flee on foot through the vineyard, Paulson said.
The driver, Michael Tarap, 54, of Napa, and his passenger, Steven Wedro, 46, of Vacaville, were arrested and booked at Napa County Jail. Tarap was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and a parole violation, according to the CHP and jail records. Wedro, who was booked for allegedly resisting an officer, was wanted on a warrant, according to the CHP.

From the NVR Guidelines : "Implying guilt of a subject in a crime story before there is a court verdict" will get our comments deleted. But the headline is : "Double bust after DUI".
Shouldn't it be "Double bust after alleged DUI" ? Or "Double bust after DUI arrest" ?
But in a media outlet that has a featured daily DUI list, I suppose we might as well try to convict these fine young men ;-) and save on court costs.
On a more serious note, I'd like to offer the cops here a cyber-pat-on-the-back.

We are experiencing an influenza that seems to be introduced from a southern border. Will politics allow that malady to grow for a grossly illegal political correctness acceptance ignoring the Law? Well, YOU either vote for on deny your vote to keep this mentality out of Congress, et al. IN THE MIDDLE OF Sunday/Monday football you make your undoubtedly profound decision as to whom will relieve you of your freedom, liberty that will become a curse to your children and the history of the country that seems to have attempted to give you a direction to be a free people. All too many have abused The Constitution through misinterpretation. Where do we go from here? "
