A crash where alcohol had reportedly been a factor turned into a more serious offense for a Napa man Friday.

The Napa Police Department reports that Florentino Fernandez-Cesareo, 25, of Napa, crashed a 1992 Honda Accord in the area of Old Sonoma and Congress Valley roads Friday, at 1:51 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers responded to the solo-vehicle crash and determined that Fernandez-Cesareo was DUI, police said.  Fernandez-Cesareo was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked at Napa County Department of Corrections. No injuries were reported.
The following day, at 5 p.m., the registered owner of the Honda that Fernandez-Cesareo had crashed the night before reported to police that the car was stolen. Napa Police investigators determined that the victim’s car had been taken Friday from the 2300 block of Adrian Street.

An additional charge of possession of stolen property was added while Fernandez-Cesareo was being held at the jail for the DUI. The Napa Police Department is attempting to find out if a connection exists between this incident and the string of auto thefts that plagued Napa last month.

" Well, you wouldn't want to get drunk and crash your OWN car, would you?

Thank goodness no one was hurt. "
