Shortly after 5 p.m. a CHP officer noticed James Drake, 31, of Napa, riding a bicycle that matched the description of one that had been reported stolen and was valued at roughly $1,300.

The officer found Drake a short distance from where the bike was reported stolen. He detained Drake and found the suspect was also on parole.
Drake was subsequently escorted to the county jail on suspicion of grand theft and violation of parole.

" This story makes it sound as if the CHP officer is a real bicycle afficionado. "

" Can you post a pic? I have a friend named James Drake in Napa. But he's 36 and wouldn't do something like this. "

" Hah! This was my bike that was stolen. I literally turned my head for 3 seconds and it was gone. Thankfully there were two CHP officers right around the corner who caught this guy probably 3 minutes within the bike being stolen. Grand Theft while on parole for theft, not a smart move. "

" Grand theft bicycle. Can you get a third strike for that?

Instead of going back to prison, maybe guys like this could help construct the border fence? "
