Emergency crews are looking for a man in Lake Berryessa who may have drowned this afternoon.
At 2:30 p.m., a caller reported a 21- to 22-year-old Hispanic male went under the water and didn’t resurface, said Napa Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Doug Pace. The man was last seen at Foxtail Flat Road near Oak Shores, he said. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black swim shorts.

The Sheriff’s Office boat and land units responded and a dive team is on the way, Pace said. No further information is available at this time.

" If someone has in fact drowned, that's very sad for the family and friends of the victim. The BOR loans out FREE life vests at Oak Shores every weekend. For goodness sakes, if you are not a strong swimmer, swallow your pride and use one! "

" OZGuy: I second your statement with the amendment that even if you are a strong swimmer, wear that life vest. Strong swimmers drown too.

These are ALWAYS preventable tragedies. "

" Not sure about everyone else, but who likes or needs an after the fact know it all....... Not this Napan "

" We were there last weekend, and I made the kids wear vests even though they're strong swimmers. They argued with me about it. I won. Showed them the article this morning. No more arguments. "

" amazed: You are a good parent. I do the same with my kids, as well as any adult that boards my boat. We insist on safety because we love those around us.

napavalleybrat: I beat this drum every time one of these stories hits the pages. I beat this drum in "Random Thoughts" and letters to the editor. If making an issue out of each instance we read of such tragedies saves one life, my mission is accomplished. So here is my suggestion for you. When you got play at the lake, wear a life vest. Then "know it alls" like me wont have any chance to comment about you. "
