3 p.m.Napa County law enforcement officials have identified a suspect in an American Canyon bank robbery in late August.

The Napa Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau is looking for Marcel Jones, 22, of American Canyon. His last known location was in Vallejo on Wednesday.
Detectives pinpointed Jones as the suspect after they say he robbed another bank out of the area, Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris Carlisle said.

Investigators tracking the second robbery contacted Napa detectives when they found their case was similar to the incident at the West America bank in American Canyon Aug. 24, he said.
On that day, Jones is suspected of walking into the bank and giving the teller a note. He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

At the time, he was wearing a black, thigh-length leather coat, dark jeans and was carrying a backpack.
Jones grew up in the American Canyon area and attended Vintage High School, Carlisle said. He also has ties to Napa, Oakland and Sacramento.

He is described as black, 5 foot 8 inches tall and 145 pounds. He often uses public transportation.

Officials worry that he may be armed and dangerous.

Carlisle asks anyone who knows anything about Jones’ whereabouts to contact him at 253-6030. If you see Jones, do not approach him, but call 911 immediately, officials asked.

" Betcha he gets WAY more time than the white collar criminals who've stolen billions and billions from our banking and insurance systems.

Hmmm...

I was about to admonish Mr. Jones for thinking he could cheat and steal his way to wealth, but then I remembered that there is, actually. I guess he should have gotten an office on Wall Street, or something. "

" Good one steph!

Heck if he pays taxes on what he stole he might even get a cabinet position and since no FBI clearance is required to hold the highest position in the White House...well, you never know. "

" Well, let us hope not everyone who has been foreclosed upon does not rob banks to "get even." Most of the time people's lives are in danger because the robber is armed. A better idea would have been to help his mom make her payments somehow. I have dear friends who have two young children who just lost their home and they are just going to move forward from this point. You really have no alternative. "

" I don't get it, why is it newsworthy where he went to high school? Pending the completion of AmCan High School, every kid in AmCan went to Vintage. "

" You never know, funnyme!

But he does NOT have to pay taxes to be nominated, just keep that in mind.

(Sorry for the prior mess-up in my sentence, but you got the idea.) "

" To be fair, Mr. Pony, if his mom couldn't pay her mortgage, then the home belonged to the bank. Not that I condone their actions in lending money to people who couldn't pay it back. The banks should have known better, but the banks got greedy and carried no risk.

Their actions are criminal--they're bilking taxpayers of billions, and nobody is going to prison over it. Just disgusting.

But I can understand Mr. Jones's frustration. "

" What about the workers at the bank, you guys are making a joke about it ! I see nothing funny about someone holding up banks,Maybe next time he kills someone or himself, turn your self in ,do your time and start your life over like i did-learn from it and when you get out talk to the young youth about what you have done and maybe you will save someone who is thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!!! "

" You're right. It's not funny. If he's convicted, he'll pay for his crime.

Darn it, though.

I just wish we had better punishment of white collar criminals whose victims also suffer. People lose their jobs, their livelihoods, their pride--all that and the criminals just never seem to skip a beat. "
