7:15 p.m.An American Canyon man was convicted Friday of raping two women last year. Charles David Gordon, 25, faces a maximum prison sentence of 45 years to life.

Gordon was charged with two counts of forcible rape and two other sex charges related to incidents involved a young woman and an underage female. He waived his right to a jury trial, and Napa County Superior Court Judge Stephen Kroyer rendered the verdict after hearing the evidence.
In the first instance, the victim was a 16-year-old girl who visited Gordon at his apartment in November 2008 because, based on previous experience, she knew she could get alcohol from him, according to court documents. He gave her shots of Wild Turkey whiskey until she was incoherent and dizzy, she told investigators.

Gordon then kissed her, pushed her down and forced her to perform sexual acts while ignoring her calls for help, the document said.
Gordon called his parents to come get her because she was “drunk and out of control,” the document said. As they were driving away with the victim, she saw a police car.

She attempted to jump out of the car, crying hysterically and saying she was raped, the documents say Napa Police Department Officer Russ Davis said. The victim underwent an evaluation at the hospital, where results found evidence of sexual intercourse. A DNA sample matched Gordon, the court documents stated.
In the second case, the victim was 16 years old when she met the then-18-year-old Gordon in Medford, Ore. Gordon convinced her to move to American Canyon with him and live with his parents.

They dated and lived together off and on through 2008, during which time Gordon slapped, choked, threatened and sexually assaulted her, court documents said. It ended in January 2008, when the woman was 21, after he raped her twice and put out a cigarette on her leg.

Court documents also list two other victims, one from Jacksonville, Ore., and another from Napa. Both were Gordon’s girlfriends at the time of the alleged rapes.

All four women testified in the case against Gordon, although prosecutors only filed charges related to two of the three Napa County women and have no jurisdiction to file charges in the Oregon incident.

Prosecutors learned of the case after the first victim flagged down the police officer, said Napa County Deputy District Attorney Paul Gero. It sparked a four-month investigation, during which the office discovered the other cases.

“It seemed like every ex-girlfriend that would call would have something important to say,” Gero said.

Gero emphasized Gordon’s “pattern of violence” during the trial before Judge Kroyer.

“The evidence was overwhelming that he wanted to abuse them and control them,” he said.

Gordon testified for about five hours during the trial. He told the judge he had sex with the victims, but that it was consensual, Gero said. He also admitted to being rough with the second victim during their relationship, and expressed remorse.

“I think justice was served, and I think it was obvious to everyone in the courtroom,” Gero said.

Gordon’s defense attorney Mervin Lernhart didn’t return calls for this story.

Kroyer scheduled Gordon’s sentencing for Nov. 4.

" I'm sorry but is this part of the article truly necessary to include? Honestly. That's a little much.

"Gordon then kissed her, pushed her down and forced her to perform sexual acts while ignoring her calls for help, the document said." "

" I agree with AThought. That part of the article was unnecessary. "

" i'm pretty sure that if she hadn't included that part you would have been the first to ask for all the "juicy" details. i don't get any of you "

" As uncomfortable as it maybe to read some of what happened - imagine the anguish these young girls lived through. Nows not the time to be judgemental about the facts. Im glad this guy is where he belongs. Bravo to the women, their family and friends, for being brave enough to see this through until justice was served "

" Wow, how awful, and I'm upset that it kept happening over and over. How did the 16 year old girl move out of state? Did she run away or was she emancipated? "

" blundc- If I felt that portion of the article werent' necessary, then why do you think I'd want those details had they not been in there? Who would want to read that kind of description about such a horrible thing?

In addition, I agree with mykdgirl54- It is uncomfortable reading about this, and I cannot imagine what those girls went through. I am also glad that this guy is getting what he deserves for sure. "

" What about the parents?? You're telling me they didn't know what was going on?? They picked the poor girl up..........didn't they listen to what she must have said. WOW!! I hope the best for all women involved.
As for the graphic element of the story. It may be a little too much but you don't know just how often this stuff happens. Most girls don't say anything or feel that it was their fault. That maybe they didn't say no loud enough or with force. "

" I agree with angrytoo. It seems to me that the parents should have been charged with accessories to these crimes. If the girl, drunk or not, was able to notice and flag down a police officer, I'm guessing she also told them what their son had done. I wonder how many times they have "bailed him out" of similar situations...not just jail. This is also another reason we should not turn a blind eye to teenage alcohol use/abuse. The article states the 16-year-old knew she could obtain alcohol from this guy. Parents! Please, please, please, don't just assume "kids will be kids" when you know your child drinks. Judgment just goes out the window and kids become victims. "

" blundc you're sick. "juicy" details don't apply to cases that involve sexual violence. Had it been a sex scandel involving a politician or public figure it would be different.

angrytoo how can you blame the girls in this case for not saying "no loud enough"??? Are you kiddding me!?!?!? "

Napagrrl wrote on Oct 6, 2009 12:56 PM:

" When "angrytoo" says, "Most girls don't say anything or feel that it was their fault. THAT maybe they didn't say no loud enough or with force." I believe s/he is saying that the girls/victims may be thinking (wrongly, of course) that they could be at fault because they didn't say no loud enough. I don't believe the comment is intended to say that they are to blame for not being more emphatic. A couple of well-placed words would have helped convey that thought a bit better! "

" Thank You Napagrrl, I was tring to word my comment and had to stop. EVERBODY this guy is a SEX OFFENDER, he has been convicted for it. It's a perfect world that parents will actually listen to their kids about this. My Mother is excellent and she never had a clue that this was going on. That was in the 70's and 80's. Parents listen to your children. Please. I'm sorry, I am a little close to this subject. For people who think the KIDS can say no or call the police, get real. The parents are clueliss most of the time and when they are not, nail the (very bad parent).
I know my MOM and we went threw this. Parents listen to your childen, please. AND Parents when you have and you know that you have little manipulaters your family weed it out. Nothing is a 100% But family is or should be first. "

" I have to agree with " angry too" if there arent any details people complain, if there are details people complain.

She was 16 looking for alcohol, he was 18 up to no good. I do agree that his parents should be ashamed of themselves. If he was 18 kiving at home and doing these things in his parents home how could they not know? "

" Whats the real story? without the transcrips we dont' know. when you are 16 and in trouble its always someone else fault / cry wolf. Where were the parents taking her. who flag down the police? How quick we are to judge when we hear one side of the story and not the other. And the exgirlfrends, one that lived with him at her mothers and his parents. Oh a women scorned. Althought I do not agree with what this young man did. This is the most oneside story straight from the DA's point of view. What is the other side??? "
