A Clear Lake resident was arrested after a Napa County Sheriff’s deputy found him with a bat and a bottle of cocaine Friday.

At 2:50 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 29 north of Tubbs Lane for a mechanical violation, according to the sheriff’s office.
He noticed the passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle, Lanell Clayton, 33, had a shortened wooden baseball bat with “beet ’em” written on it in red, the office said. He also had a bottle of cocaine.

Clayton was booked on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon and possession of drugs in the Napa County Department of Corrections.

" I swear, I was on my way to a mini baseball game, officer! And the cocaine is medicinal! "

" It wasn't until the third paragraph of this article that I realized this man had a BASEBALL bat, not one of those furry, flying kinds. You have to admit...stranger things have happened! "

" LOL llamamama, same here! The headlines made me think of a furry bat perched on his shoulders. I would have preferred that over a baseball bat with "beet em" written on it. Some violent minded people out there. "

" What a surprise...a criminal who can't spell...."beet 'em"? Should be "beat 'em". Maybe he can take some classes while he's in jail. "

napawineo wrote on Oct 6, 2009 6:28 PM:

" Napkin, doubt he could learn to spell in 2-3 days because that is as long as our D.A. and judges will keep him in jail... "

" What the heck is a "bottle of cocaine?" Is this what they were talking about in the "Mighty thin argument against soda tax" article? If it was a bottle of cocaine, then that kid had about several thousands of dollars worth. Thats prison terms right there. Wrong path to choose kid. now he will know what "beet em" really means. "

" wow, bottle of Cocaine? Is that like a pepsi bottle size? Maybe the bat had the writing on it as in " beetem" meaning lets win the baseball game...or not.... "
