A break-in to Fazeratti’s Pizza in Napa sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 9:15 a.m. Wednesday netted $1,800 for a thief or thieves.

A restaurant representative reported the burglary, on the 1700 block of Imola, to the Napa Police Department. Someone smashed in a window on the front door to enter the business and then stole about $1,800 in cash, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.

" $1,800 in cash at the pizzaria?.... that makes as much sense as banks baking pizzas.... inside job and Fazzerati's may want to open a bank account with night deposit...today. "

" I want to hear more of the story. The thief/thieves would have had to know how to get in the register unless someone left the key in it. But $1800 in the register? Was there more cash stored elsewhere? Nobody did a night deposit? I love Fazeratti's, and would really like to know how this turns out. "

" Ewww, so sorry! But why on earth are they keeping that kind of money in the store overnight? And who knows that the money is there? Hmmmm. "

" So sorry to hear this. A great place for a reasonably priced lunch (one of the few!), and a terrific, community-minded owner. Shame, shame, shame. "

" Someone smashed a window on the FRONT door and had time to go in and get the cash. Hmmm...maybe they should invest in a security system.

Sounds like it was someone who knew the cash was there and that there was no security. "

" phone rings:

"Fazeratti's, can I help you?"

Caller: "Yes, I'd like to order a pizza for pick up."

FAZ: " What can I get for you tonight?"

Caller: "I would like an extra large dollar bill pie with pepperoni and jalapeƱos on deep dish crust, please."

FAZ: "Ok, can I get a phone number and your name?"

Caller: "No man, just leave it on the counter or in the register which ever is easier. I will be by about 11:30PM to pick it up."

FAZ: "Um... ok but we are closed by then."

Caller: That's ok, just do it. I know how to get in there." "

" Terrible... I was just passing by there a day earlier thinking about how nice the River Park shopping center once was -it is sad that so many businesses such as Vallergas have left -but Fazeratti's was hanging in there... I hope this doesn't change their mind. "

" This is a disgusting crime. Fazzerati's is a wonderful business (the only great business still in River Park) and one of the only independent pizzerias, and the only one that really invites people to get a great meal and watch sports and enjoy friends. We need to SUPPORT businesses like these, not steal from them. The employees there are just as magnificent as the meals they serve. "
