A Napa man was arrested after police say he held his girlfriend against her will and assaulted her.

Napa police responded to the 2000 block of Wilkins Ave. at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.
They found a woman who reported she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Octavio Hernandez, 21.

He refused to allow her to leave the residence and threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to law enforcement, police said.
She was able to flee, and Hernandez left the area in a vehicle.

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol stopped Hernandez in Sonoma County. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, false imprisonment, criminal threats and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections.
Separately, a St. Helena man was arrested after allegedly throwing a woman to the ground during an argument.

The St. Helena Police Department responded to the 600 block of McCorkle Avenue at about 11:55 p.m.

The woman said Rene Echeverria, 46, grabbed her and threw her down on the ground, causing a minor injury, police said.

Echeverria was booked on suspicion of domestic violence at the Napa County Department of Corrections.
