A man was arrested Wednesday after Napa County Sheriff’s deputies found a small amount of methamphetamine in his residence during a parole search.

Deputies searched Billy Joe Couch’s residence on the 2200 block of Ethel Porter Drive at 11:30 a.m. Couch, 44, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.

" It's easier said than done, gladtobegone. A friend's daughter is a meth addict. She was clean for 2 1/2 years and then started up again. She worked hard to get free of the law, pay back all her restitution, hold down a FT job, etc. and went back to the meth. She says she wants to stop, but can't. These days there are fewer and fewer state-funded programs to help people like her out, and that's why there are so many stories about people in their 30s, 40s and even 50s being arrested for meth related crimes. "

" There are fewer state funded progrms becaues of the obvious...it's the economy, and so more and more meth related crimes will occur..they are not gettimg the help they used to get, because quite frankly, we live in a state that has lost income producers (read tax revenues) in huge numbers, so there is no one to pay for it. "
