Two Napa men who claimed they were assaulted were ultimately arrested on drug charges Sunday.

Napa Police officers went to the intersection of Griggs Lane and Laurel Street at 5:36 p.m. after hearing a report of a fight, police said.
They spoke with John Kane, 23, and Michael Ruiz, 30, who said they had been assaulted.

Police found they were in possession of several ounces of marijuana, a scale, clean packaging material and several hundred dollars in cash, police said. They also secured a search warrant for Ruiz’s residence, where they found an additional two pounds of marijuana.
Kane and Ruiz were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections.
