8 p.m.Six people arrested in connection with an August home-invasion robbery have been sentenced to jail or prison on a mix of felony charges.

The six defendants accepted plea deals Sept. 17, and the last of the defendants was sentenced Thursday.
Residents of a home on the 2000 block of Stockton Street reported Aug. 15 that six people had broken into their house wielding machetes and baseball bats, police reported at the time. The defendants threatened to kill the victims if they didn’t hand over electronics and other household items.

They took several items and left, police said.
Later, Napa Police spotted a vehicle described as the one suspects left in and arrested the six defendants: Daniel Dean LaRue, 29, Chris Michael-Robert Potts, 24, Caleb Joseph Johnson, 23, Joshua Jordan Fjellman, 25, Ryan Dale Seeger, 32, and Christine Elizabeth Wertz, 27.

LaRue, Potts and Seeger pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary and were sentenced to two years in prison each, according to Deputy District Attorney Jose Rossi.
Johnson pleaded guilty to making criminal threats and grand theft, and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Fjellman and Wertz both pleaded guilty to felony assault and received six months in jail each, Rossi said.

" Now that they're all convicted felons, what do their original defenders and apologists have to say?

We were told to wait for the outcome before judging them... "

" One can hope and possible even expect that in any 'healthy' Western culture or society that none of these perpetrators will be allowed out of prison without extensive, exhaustive and ongoing deep and clinically controlled psychotherapy to reconnect them to their souls and true identities as well as to correct any and all criminal thinking errors. If they are indeed all sociopaths then it is better for all involved to keep them locked up and removed from the general population as per their lifespan as they will only terrorize and re-offend again except even more brutally and without any compassion or ability to identify. A world of wanted children would make a world of difference would it not? "

" Ephemerol: On Planet Earth, the criminal justice system doesn't keep felons incarcerated until it can "reconnect them to their souls and true identities" or cure their "criminal thinking errors". But the system does teach them how to fashion weapons out of ordinary household items. "

" For the longest time, prisoners have run the show behind those bars so is someone going to do something about that? The C.O.'s are afraid to say anything to some of them due to retaliation, so they look the other way with most inmates..why is that? Why have prison if the offenders are still offending and getting away with it and, yes, they do learn how to shape a knife out of their innocent shampoo bottles then proceed to insert it up their rectum to hide it before they go to the yard. In case they are the 'chosen' one to do a hit on someone they need their little shampoo-knife now don't they? I think the system is so ridiculous but one voice, mine, will do nothing so it is more frustrating and causes more trouble to people out here..just knowing the unsafe environment of staff working with those guys..worse yet, the guys are following the leader for survival...so does anyone really ever expect someone out of prison to be productive? Really??? The C.O.'s are threatened every day so if they want to keep their job, and their life, they have to look the other way...if they are looking the other way, they are not doing their job so they need the boot...it is still going on that way..why?? I don't think I'm the only one disappointed in the system but no one who 'counts' will speak up their voice (s)..why not? Are they afraid too!! The shot-callers are having a blast, and learning nothing about punishment..i just don't understand this crazy human-ran world... "

" Ephemerol - who said they were unwanted children? A world of wanted children that's a bunch of left wing propaganda. Just because a child is wanted doesn't make them a saint. "

" and since we can count on the fact that at least one of these people will re-offend, I never intend to give up my right to own a gun. "

" Oooooooohh!!! Six convictions in just one case.

Anyone remember the Brothers Grimm fairy tale (#20) The Brave Little Tailor? Seven in one blow! The little tailor got his reputation through braggery and manipulation, frightening everyone so they wouldn't challenge him. Wonderful virtues, don't you think?

In the justice system there is no reform. There is no learned remorse. There is nothing but punishment and criminal education. Good luck to the six new felons. And more luck to the community when they return someday. "

" I can't speak for all who were involved in this mess of horrid behavior, but I can speak for one who is completely devasted and ashamed of his behavior. Sometimes people need a kick in the butt to get their lives on track and realize the people whom they've let into their lives aren't neccisarily the best of people to be involved with.
Not everyone involved entered that house yeilding weapons, I can say that he has learned his lesson and WILL become a great member of society with the right guidence from probation and the support of loved ones. "
