The Napa Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new president, as Kate King is headed for Texas, according to a statement from the chamber.

King, who spent about a decade as the head of the Napa business group, recently purchased 15 acres of land with a home in Texas.
King led the chamber through a period of growth in terms of revenues, legislative activity and community involvement. The economic downturn has increased pressure on chambers and their members as the business climate has soured.

“As a board, we have all learned so much from Kate about the important role of a chamber and its advocacy work on behalf of the business community,” Mike Silvas, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors, said in a statement. “We feel confident that this chamber will remain strong and vibrant thanks in part to Kate’s 10 years of diligent work.”
King was hired in 1999, eventually increasing the chamber’s revenues and making it the fourth-largest chamber of commerce in the Bay Area, according to a statement from the chamber.

During that time, she has served with organizations including the governor’s six-member California Small Business Board and the Napa Valley College Small Business Development Advisory Board.
The exact date of her departure is being determined. Incoming chamber chairman Randy Martinsen said King is helping with a  plan that will help identify a new leader for the organization.

" I had the pleasure to work with Kate on the Chamber Board - she is a fantastic woman! I am sad to see you go Kate but I wish you all the luck in your new adventures. "
