Okay, actually Grace Kelly style is back, via a line of handbags now available at Muguette Renee Boutique at 1409 Second St., inspired by the actress-turned princess.

Boutique owner Muguette Renee always admired Ms. Kelly’s fashion sense, and is “single-handedly bringing back the Grace Kelly satchel,” she said with her characteristic smile.

“I love that classic look, and so do a lot of women.” In keeping with that, Renee is also carrying more silk Italian made tops.

“I cater to women who are 40, 50, 60 years old, who appreciate a more upscale look.”

Renee, who has been a fixture at the Farmers Market for 15 years, began by making her own line of vintage-style jewelry, and with it, original scented candles.

Boosted by her success, she built a small cart and sold her products at the Oxbow Public Market. Further encouraged by customers, she opened her shop on Second.

Her jewelry making initially took a back seat to the demands of a new store, but she has turned her attention back to the craft.

“I had to,” she said. “Customers kept asking, ‘are you going to make jewelry again?’ Plus, I really enjoy it!”

Asked how she would describe her store to someone who’s never been there, Renee answers immediately.

“It’s like walking into a shop in Paris.” Lingerie and accessories were added to the mix at her customers’ request. She is determined to keep prices reasonable.

“I want this to be a shop for locals. Beautiful products at great prices.”

Renee Muguette Boutique is open Tuesday through Saturday, or you can check out her jewelry and candles at the Saturday morning Farmers Market. 816-9408.

And as promised…

Last column, I published part of the list of venues offering evening entertainment downtown, as compiled by Visit Napa Valley. Here are the others:

Silo’s Nightclub, located at the historic Hatt plaza in downtown Napa, is one of Napa Valley’s premier up-close and personal entertainment venues, featuring small plates, cocktails, craft beers, Napa Valley wines, and live music nearly every night of the week.

UnCorked at Oxbow tasting salon located in the Oxbow District of downtown Napa, offers live music Thursday and Friday nights from 7 to 10 p.m.

Enjoy performances from various local artists along with award-winning wines. Thursday’s Open Mic Night at Uncorked has long been a favorite among the locals and visitors alike.

The Uptown Theatre, located in the West End District of downtown Napa, is a restored art deco masterpiece from 1937 showcasing the finest acts in music and comedy.

An historic landmark, the Uptown offers an intimate live show experience with world-class sound and site lines.

The Uptown has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Boz Scaggs, Willie Nelson, BB King, George Thorogood, Lyle Lovett, Chris Isaak, Glen Campbell, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

See you downtown!
