Is your business stuck in a rut?

These days, doing what you’ve always done won’t cut it anymore. When you started your business, you had a vision for what you wanted to create. The start of a new year is a good time to decide how to make your small business bigger, and better and implement strategic management processes. At this point, entrepreneurs need the resources and the tools to take their business to the next level.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Napa Valley College Napa-Sonoma Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is providing an opportunity for entrepreneurs to be informed about a program to sharpen their strategic thinking skills and develop effective management tools through the award-winning training program, NxLeveL.

This is an intensive 12-week, 36-hour small business training program is specifically designed for business owners who are positioning their business for expansion and future success. Over the past decade, Napa-Sonoma SBDC has provided this program to more than 500 local small business owners located in Napa and the surrounding area. The majority of NxLeveL graduates have successfully completed the program with a new business plan, new vision, and the resources to expand their businesses.

“NxLeveL offers new businesses such as mine a way to gain a comprehensive vision of what is required to successfully launch a new business in California. While the course work fulfills its objective well, I was particularly appreciative of business industry speakers who gave expert presentations in real world settings and with their willingness to remain available for help,” said Greg Groth, recent NxLeveL graduate and owner of Handmade Paper Mill Art and Design.

This spring, NxLeveL Entrepreneurial training will be held at Napa Valley College beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 24, and every Tuesday from 6:15 to 9:15 p.m. The course ends on Tuesday, May 12. The cost for the program is $375, which includes books, materials and free confidential mentoring from Certified SBDC Business Advisors.

The NxLeveL Entrepreneurial Training Program was developed at the University of Colorado School Of Business in 1996, and soon after adopted by the Association of Small Business Development Centers. NxLeveL is now the world’s largest, most effective entrepreneurial training network. Since 1996, more than 100,000 business owners have participated in NxLeveL provided in 47 states. An independent study provided by the University of Calgary showed existing businesses that completed NxLeveL, on average, experienced a 32 percent increase in sales and profit and created, on average, 1.3 jobs within one year after graduation.

Sandy Stelter, a Napa and Sonoma SBDC Business Advisor and owner of Strategic Organizing Solutions, has facilitated NxLeveL training for more than 10 years. Under Sandy’s leadership, the NxLeveL training program is an interactive and hands-on experience. All business owners and managers walk-away with tools and skills they can apply directly to their business.
