Queen of the Valley Foundation’s annual Generous Heart gala raised $3.1 million for its Regional Cancer Center.
More than 300 guests attended the gala on Sept. 23 at Paraduxx to pay tribute to event honorees Nancy and Dan Duckhorn.
Auctioneer Malcolm Barber, co-chairman of Bonhams, one of the sponsors for Generous Heart, with the assistance of Rob Mondavi, kept the bidding lively during the 20 live auction lots, said a news release.
The evening’s offerings included a McLaren experience at Sonoma Raceway, a holiday party hosted by Gail and Carmen Policy and a two-day tour of Napa and Anderson valleys hosted by Nancy and Dan Duckhorn.
One of the lots, a trip that originally included two nights in Mexico City, was sold, and the proceeds were donated to earthquake relief in Mexico City. The lot donor, Journey Mexico, then donated a second trip, which quickly sold, to ensure funds were also raised for Queen of the Valley Foundation.
The live auction closed with a Fund-A-Need, raised nearly $500,000, and included a contribution of $150,000 by vintner Warren Winiarski.
The evening’s proceeds will devoted to Queen of the Valley Foundation’s $18.7 million campaign to support renovations and upgrades to the Queen’s Regional Cancer Center.
