On my last few trail runs up Oat Hill Mine, I’ve begun to notice the lighting is different in the morning, the leaves are beginning to fall and blanket the trail in a golden red quilt, and the air is maybe just a bit crisper than it’s been, though this might be in my head. Fall is falling, in fact, it’s falling on my trail. With days getting shorter and supposedly cooler (I’ll believe it when I feel it), our pool season seems to be coming to a close. But don’t fret, we’ll still be open for our fall schedule through Oct. 14.

One change to the schedule, however, is our evening water aerobics class will be wrapping up this week. Not to worry, we are still offering mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as well as aqua yoga on Tuesday mornings. I have yet to try aqua yoga, but it’s getting rave reviews. I encourage you to check it out! Additionally, the pool will be open those evenings until 6 p.m. for lap swimming or water running/walking.

On the land front in recreation, soccer is in full swing. I am always impressed with our volunteer coaches that give their time to provide excellent programs for the kids of the Calistoga community. The soccer coaches do not fall short in this area. I was lucky enough to help with picture day Tuesday evening and witnessed first-hand how much these volunteers care about their kids. It’s really inspiring. If you have any interest in providing this same experience for other programs, we are always looking for more folks to join as coaches in all of programs.

Lastly, if you’re ever disheartened with the state of times, attend a youth soccer picture day. The kids in their neatly tucked kits, looking like little professionals will put a smile on anyone’s face.
