Halloween parade 2014 (copy)

Nancy Putney-Abernathy, owner of Blackbird on Lincoln Avenue, passes out candy in 2014 wearing a Sequoia Buck witch hat.

The art of Sequoia Buck comes alive in the windows of Blackbird each Halloween season, and the 2017 collection has just arrived.

One-of-a-kind, signed and numbered witches’ hats reach new heights of creativity this year. Once again Buck combines vintage fabrics, baubles and beads ferreted from her year of searching everywhere from thrift shops to estate sales.

Her basic designs always start with a pointy cone and a broad brim and become collectible art as each one is unique and original.

Join Blackbird at 1347 Lincoln Ave. in toasting Buck and her new collection on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to meet Buck and learn about the distinctive origins of each of her remarkable hats.
