CALISTOGA — Human remains have been found on the Kenefick Ranch, a swath of vineyards along the northeastern edge of Calistoga, Capt. Tracey Stuart said Tuesday afternoon.
The discovery, which was called in around 1 p.m., was made by a vineyard worker in a creek bed, Stuart said.
The reported scene is a few hundred yards up a gravel road at 710 Silverado Trail, across from Brannan Street. A deputy had the access road blocked and declined to give any information, but a cluster of official vehicles were visible up the road and a several additional unmarked vehicles joined the scene around 3:30 p.m.
By 4 p.m., a small aircraft was circling the scene taking photographs of the entire area, though it was not clear from radio transmissions what, if anything in particular, the deputies on the ground might be looking for.
The scene is just outside of city limits, so Calistoga police referred calls to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. A call to the Kenefick Ranch Winery was referred to the sheriff’s office.
