A head-on collision on Highway 29 north of Calistoga seriously injured a Santa Rosa man Tuesday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Jon E. Dorsey, 60, was southbound around 5:25 p.m. when his 2010 Toyota Camry was struck by a northbound car that had been attempting to pass another vehicle, Officer Jaret Paulson said.
The northbound vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Camry, was driven by Erin J. Anthony, 26, of Clearlake, he said. Anthony lost control of the car as she attempted to return to the normal travel lane after overtaking another vehicle in a marked passing zone north of Tubbs Lane, according to the CHP.
The Calistoga Fire Department had to cut Dorsey out of his vehicle, firefighter Joe Russo said.
Dorsey suffered major injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Paulson said.
Anthony suffered only minor injuries, Russo said.
No details were available Wednesday morning about Dorsey’s condition, Paulson said. The accident remains under investigation, he said.
