The Boys & Girls Club of St. Helena and Calistoga launched a new program in Angwin on Monday during a week of partial school days.
“The (Howell Mountain) Elementary School approached us in September,” said Greg Bouillerce, director of operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Helena and Calistoga.
They just finished hiring staff and supplying the programs that will be run by Mariana Martinez, who has been with the organization for three years, the last two as academic director at the St. Helena club, Bouillerce said.
Howell Mountain Elementary School has about 100 students, and they are hoping to register around half of that, he said.
There will be a lot of familiar faces at the school because some of them attended summer programs at the Calistoga club, or have switched school districts.
“We’ll have some old faces for new programs,” Bouillerce said.
Right now the program is slated for the school year, but may extend into the summer depending on need and capacity, he said.
Bouillerce was promoted to director of operations overseeing the organization’s four programs – the St. Helena club, Calistoga’s youth and teen programs, and now the Howell Mountain Elementary program, which will operate in the same manner as did Calistoga’s youth program at Calistoga Elementary School.
The promotion took effect as a result of Jay Templeton’s retirement earlier this year when Trent Yaconelli was promoted into Templeton’s spot as chief of the organization. Yaconelli tapped Bouillerce to step into his old spot.
The domino effect brought Lainey Cronk up to the unit director for the Boys & Girls Club elementary level program.
