A Sonoma woman was arrested Wednesday on Highway 121/12 near Highway 29 by Napa police in connection with an incident at Walmart Supercenter in American Canyon, according to the American Canyon Police Department.

Justine Franceschi, 24, was stopped as she tried to leave the store at about 3:45 a.m. with $351 worth of unpaid merchandise in a backpack, according to Police Chief Jean Donaldson. She handed the backpack to security and left in 1999 black Nissan Altima driven by another woman, he said.

Napa police stopped the car on Highway 121/12, he said. Franceschi allegedly was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, police said.

Franceschi, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, was booked at 5:45 a.m. into the Napa County jail on suspicion of burglary, methamphetamine possession, drug paraphernalia possession, police said. The driver was not arrested, Donaldson said.
