Responding to a substantial demographic of area music lovers unable to take off four successive work days in May, producers of the upcoming major rock ‘n’ roll festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, will put single-day passes on sale Wednesday.

Single-day BottleRock passes are being offered at $139, adding one more pass category to the mix offered to fans earlier this month.

The addition of single-day passes “opens the event up to more people, especially a lot of young people who aren’t able to attend all four days,” a spokesman for WillPower Entertainment said Tuesday.

In addition, the festival’s talent roster continues to grow, with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Violent Femmes and X added to a lineup that includes Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Train, the Zac Brown Band, Jackson Browne, Furthur, Jane’s Addiction, The Black Crowes, Cake, Primus, Alabama Shakes, The Wallflowers, The Shins, The Flaming Lips, Dwight Yoakam, Matt Nathanson, plus Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes.

The valley’s big rock ‘n’ roll festival opens on May 8 with emerging musical artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis headlining a preview event at Napa Valley Expo, where most of the 50-plus acts will perform on three stages Thursday through Sunday, May 9-12.

An up-to-date festival lineup can be found at BottleRockNapaValley.com with continued updates as additional acts are added. A separate comedy roster will be rolled out in the next few weeks.

In addition to 3-day (May 10 – 12) and 4-day (May 9-12) passes — which are $299 and $399, respectively — the single-day passes can be purchased at BottleRockNapaValley.com. A VIP pass — which includes premium parking and access to premium viewing areas, VIP after parties, VIP seating and VIP comedy events — is being offered at $599. The Macklemore & Ryan Lewis preview show is available to all BottleRock multi-pass holders. Individual Macklemore & Ryan Lewis tickets at $29 will be offered at a later date.

The festival is also partnering with a number of area wineries, restaurants and microbreweries to provide food and drink to festivalgoers at Napa Valley Expo.

Concerts will take place from midday to 10 p.m., with other venues, including Napa’s Uptown Theatre, hosting late night events during the festival.

Additional information, including concert lineups, can be found at BottleRockNapaValley.com.

Barry Christian stood on the new levee trail south of Napa one day recently and enjoyed the expansive views. Distant mountains, adjacent tidal wetlands and the Brazos railroad drawbridge crossing the Napa River are part of the scenery.
