The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West presents a free concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 in at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville.
Mobility is the popular music ensemble of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, stationed at Travis Air Force Base. It will share the stage with the Napa Valley Youth Symphony (NVYS) for a combined performance of energetic pop, rock, classical and patriotic tunes.
Much like the name implies, this high-powered group has an extensive tour schedule and performs chart-topping hits for diverse events such as military functions, festivals, school assemblies, and professional sporting events. Additionally, members of Mobility have deployed as part of the Band of the Golden West’s mission of providing rotational support of the Air Force Central Command Band, performing for troops and coalition partners overseas. Mobility averages over 120 performances a year throughout the westernmost United States, reaching audiences totaling more than 600,000.
Established in 2002, NVYS has garnered many accolades, including recognition of achievement by United States Senator Barbara Boxer and invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2008 and again in 2014. The Napa Valley Youth Symphony provides young musicians from diverse backgrounds opportunities for personal and artistic growth through challenging and inspiring rehearsal and performances in a professional environment, while enhancing the community educationally and artistically.
