The city of Napa, Napa River Inn and Arts Council Napa Valley will host a kickoff and reception on June 18 to celebrate the incoming Napa ARTwalk exhibition. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in front of Napa City Hall, where the public can pick up the new map guide and take a self-guided walking tour of the current program exhibition, and end at a reception at Napa Riverbend Plaza, behind the Napa River Inn. The public is invited to attend this free event. Light refreshments from Silo’s and wine from St. Clair Brown Winery will be will be served. Napa County's poet laureate, Beclee Wilson, will read an original poem written for the occasion.
The 2015-2017 Napa ARTwalk is the fourth exhibition since the program began in 2010. It features 15 artists from six Western states, including David Boyer, Karsten Boysen, James Burnes, Justin Deister, Peter Hazel, Oleg Lobykin, Lt. Mustardseed, Jeff Owen, Lynne Streeter, Mike Suri, Reven Swanson, Patricia Vader, Joe Bologna, Catherine Daley and Napa artist John Bonick. The Napa ARTwalk features sites along First and Main streets and the riverfront promenade in downtown and the Oxbow District. Walking tour brochures will be made available to the public at the kickoff ceremony and at many downtown business locations.
A jury of arts professionals selected this group of artworks from a pool of over 175 submissions. 2015-2017 Napa ARTwalk jury members included Chandra Cerrito, owner of Chandra Cerrito Contemporary; Amy Owen, di Rosa curator; and Stephen Whisler, artist and city of Napa Public Art Steering Committee member.
