Was it Miss Scarlett in the dining room with a dagger or Colonel Mustard in the library with a lead pipe?
One of the most popular games ever invented, Clue, the murder mystery game, has entertained generations of players since 1949. Adapted into many versions, along with novels and a film, in 1993 the game was turned into a musical, which ran off-Broadway in 1997.
Lucky Penny Productions brings “Clue: The Musical” to its Napa stage, opening June 2 for a three-weekend run.
“Most musicals do not have 216 possible endings,” said director Taylor Bartolucci, “and that fact makes this one a real challenge for the actors. But most of all, it’s going to be great fun for the audience as they take part in determining the outcome and playing the game as the show goes on.”
The Lucky Penny cast includes Danielle DeBow as Miss Scarlet, Daniela Innocenti Beem as Mrs. Peacock, Phillip Percy Williams as Mrs. White, Tim Setzer as Prof. Plum, Larry Williams as Col. Mustard, Michael Scott Wells as Mr. Green, Barry Martin as the murder victim Mr. Boddy, and Heather Buck as The Detective who helps the audience decipher the clues.
“Clue: The Musical” features a book by Peter DiPietro, music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker and Vinnie Martucci, and lyrics by Tom Chiodo.
In addition to directing the show, Bartolucci also designed the stage set. Musical direction is by Craig Burdette, who will lead the three-piece band. Choreography is by Staci Arriaga and costume design by Liz Martin.
