Fiona Harden and Madison Meals were the winners of Lucky Penny Productions’ “I’m the Greatest Future Star!” musical theater singing competition for youth on March 23.

Sixteen young singers competed at Silo’s in Napa on Saturday, March 23.

Fiona Harden of Napa, with her performance of “If I Loved You” from “Carousel,” was the winner in the 11- 14-year-old age group.

“Fiona is just 11 years old but she takes a professional approach to singing,” said Peter Sykes, of the Napa School of Music, where Harden has been a student for more than four years. “She realizes it takes hard work to be a performer, and she has a great future ahead of her.”

Madison Meals of Santa Rosa topped the 6-10-year-old group with her rendition of “Reflection” from “Mulan.”

Harden and Meals were each awarded a $50 cash prize and a $50 iTunes gift card, and both have been invited to perform for the “Funny Girl” pre-show in the Napa Valley Opera House Café Theater prior to performances May 10-19.

“It was a joy to watch these young singers on stage,” said Taylor Bartolucci, who will play Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl.” “We were all impressed by the level of talent we saw, and we hope to hold more events for young performers in the future.”

“I’m the Greatest Future Star” was presented as a tie-in to Lucky Penny’s production of “Funny Girl” at the Napa Valley Opera House. Tickets are now on sale at NVOH.org or by calling 226-7372.
