Tim Setzer of Napa plays Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in the upcoming production of Mel Brooks’ musical comedy “Young Frankenstein,” which runs May 10 through 19 at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center, 5409 Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park.
Brooks’ hilarious 1974 film “Young Frankenstein” lives on as a Broadway musical with everyone's favorite classic lines, sight gags and zany characters:
• Dr. Frankenstein
• his sidekick Igor
• his vacant but voluptuous assistant. Inga
• his sex-driven fiancée Elizabeth
• the mysterious mastermind Frau Blücher
• the monster
Directed by Gene Abravaya, Brooks' bawdy, silly send-up of the classic horror films of the 1930s follows a young American doctor who travels from New York City to Transylvania to settle his grandfather’s estate. Instead, he ends up making a monster.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $22 to $26.
