Napa resident Rick Deragon will read from his recently published work of historical fiction, the novel, "Fire in the Year of Four Emperors" on Friday, Sept. 22 at The Napa Bookmine, 964 Pearl St., Napa.

Deragon will discuss the story behind his novel, its inspiration by a Rembrandt painting, The Conspiracy of Claudius Civilis, and explore the uncanny parallels between 69 AD and 2017.

Deragon is a painter and writer currently teaching art studio, art history, and art writing at Notre Dame de Namur University, Belmont, as well as art and art history classes at Napa Valley College. He has exhibited in galleries and art institutions throughout California, including the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, the Fremont Gallery in  Pasadena, Gallery 9 in Chico.
