The Napa Valley College Music Department will offer two concerts this December under the direction of Harry Cadelago.

First up is the NVC North Bay Wind Ensemble on Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. The title is “Only the Brave” and it will honor Napa Valley first responders, firefighters and U.S. military, past and present.

“The music will be varied in style and complexity,” said Cadelago. “The feeling of the music will be uplifting and positive of life. Music has the power to influence our emotion. Keeping with the theme, we will dedicate our concert to the brave of our society and community.”

On Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. the NVC Community Orchestra will present “The 3 B’s of Composition” — Brahms, Bizet and Beethoven — as they perform Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, Bizet’s selections from the opera “Carmen” and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is a musically challenging program,” said Cadelago. “The orchestra is working hard to play these classic orchestral compositions. The gift of music from the master composers. We look forward to presenting an afternoon of inspirational sounds.”

Tickets for both shows are $10 for adults and $5 for military, students and seniors. Performances are in the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center Main Theater, 2277 Napa Vallejo Highway, in Napa.
