Jim and Margo Holland were married on Aug. 25, 1967. They celebrated their 50th anniversary early, on Aug. 12, with a celebration with family in Sacramento (where the couple honeymooned half a century ago). The week prior their children gave them a clue a day, to keep them in suspense about the pending celebration.
The day started with lunch at Ten22, followed by the cutting of their anniversary cake -- complete with their original cake topper. Following lunch they took a river cruise on the Sacramento River. Jim and Margo stayed the night on the Delta King. This was all done to create a "cruise" feel. Jim and Margo had intended to take the family on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate their anniversary, but found out that their daughter, Heather, was expecting a baby the very week the cruise was set to begin.
So the cruise was cancelled for a much better gift, baby Ezra, who was present for this most special anniversary celebration.
The two are lifelong residents of Napa. They have two children and five grandchildren. Both enjoy golf, bocce ball, traveling, gardening, and spending time with family. Jim is a member of the Mare Island reunion committee and Margo enjoys retired teacher luncheons.
