John and Sandy Medvin happily celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 22, 2016.
John was in the Air Force, stationed at Travis Air Force Base when he and Sandy met. Right after they married, they were transferred to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, followed by a three-year tour at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, then to McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey. They loved each tour before John retired after 20 years of duty.
They came to Napa, where they had property and where Sandy had family. They still enjoy time with Sandy’s brother Ralph. John started working for the civil service at Mare Island, where he went on to work another 20 years before retiring.
The Medvins have three children — Jennifer, Kimberly, and Christopher — each born at the different duty stations. They also have three beautiful grandchildren.
John has long loved playing golf and does it every chance he can with great friends. Sandy loves being an RN at large busy hospitals, as a labor and delivery nurse. They have taken vacations with their children through the years, always looking forward to the next one.
They celebrated their anniversary at the home of good friends, Dave and Nancy Hansen, with about 50 friends and family. Helping in creating a wonderful night were their children, including Shawn, John’s daughter from a previous marriage, all creating a wonderful night for all.
Christopher, their son, gave a moving toast after his mother and father had their dance together. They had a mariachi band that one of their neighbors, Rosa and Raphael, brought for fun-filled entertainment with wonderful family, friends, and neighbors they have loved for years. The celebration was catered by Marco from Pasta Prego.
Now they’re looking forward to more years of travel and loving memories.
