On March 17, Patrick and Carol Timmons celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Married on St. Patrick’s Day in 1957 at St John’s Catholic Church on Main Street, close to 300 guests attended a reception for the couple at the Napa Plaza hotel after the wedding. Carpe Diem now is at the Plaza site.
On March 18, the couple’s four children, Marc, Paula, Mike and Jim, and their families hosted a dinner in their honor at Napa Riverpointe. Every family member was put to task in the preparation and set up, right down to great granddaughters of the couple helping with decorating.
Fifty guests enjoyed an Italian dinner of lasagna and pesto tortellini provided by Tom Finch of Filippi’s Pizza Grotto. Carol baked her own cake, and daughter Paula decorated. The original cake top from their wedding cake was used once again, with an added silver glittered “60.”
Two of the guests at the dinner were Carol’s cousins Edward Parker and Tom Nelson, two of the original guests 60 years ago. A slide show of over 200 photographs spanning slightly more than 80 years played on a large screen TV providing entertainment and many laughs.
