On December 4, after a long battle with congestive heart failure, Barbara Joyce Jacques passed from this life into the arms of Jesus. She was surrounded by the family she loved so much.
Barbara was born in Vallejo May 10, 1939 to George and Genevieve (Zanardi) Bottari. She attended local schools, graduating from Vallejo High School in 1957.
She worked at Sears in Vallejo for several years during which time she married James Jacques. Eventually they moved to Napa where they raised 3 children and made many friends.
Barbara was first and foremost a housewife and mom. She enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining, and being involved with her children’s activities.
When her children had grown she went to work for Vallejo Stationers, but soon found her niche volunteering at Molly’s Angels. She spent many years as an “Angel” and found the work to be especially rewarding. She had a caring servant’s heart and was quick to step in and help family, friends, and strangers – whoever might have had a need.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, George and “Jenny” Bottari, her sister, Beverly Simonson Crabb, and infant sister Betty. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim, sons James and Jeffrey, daughter Jane, and one grandson. She also leaves behind Andrew Morrison, whom she considered a third son, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended loving family.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:30am.
Donations in her name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Memories and notes of sympathy may be shared at claffeyandrota.com.
