Claire Jean Poole passed into God’s hands on January 23, 2018 at the age of 93.
Claire was born on August 9, 1924 in Michigan to a large farming family; she had seven sisters and one brother. At seventeen, she and two sisters headed for Hollywood to find fame and fortune. They were beautiful ladies. After some time they decided, their acting career was not to be. So, they started moving north. Claire got a job as a waitress and that is when she met Ray Poole. They were married on April 30, 1947 soon after they met. They would go on to have three children, Michael, Debbie and Pamela. They lived in Fresno, then Sacramento and finally settled in Napa in 1962.
Ray and Claire had a “nut and bolt” business, PAFCO, which they started together in 1976. Claire was an integral part of this family business managing all the records and bookkeeping and supporting Ray. She was always behind the scenes making sure that the customers were happy.
Claire was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Family was what she cared about the most. She loved babies and little children; she just loved to spiffy them up. She enjoyed being a part of their lives. Not only was she dedicated to her immediate family. She kept close ties to her Michigan family. She made calls every week to catch up on family news. She kept close ties with her husband’s family in Fresno with weekly calls to them as well. Family first for Claire.
Claire loved flowers, plants and gardens. She spent many hours outside gardening. She was a great homemaker! She had the cleanest house in town! She loved every kind of animal. She had horses, goats, cats and dogs on her property. She even had a small pet sitting service until her late eighties. She loved working with her hands and being productive. So many knew her as a generous and loving person.
Claire is survived by sister Virginia, children Michael and daughter-in-law Jeanine Poole, Debbie and son-in-law Ken Lyle and Pam Poole Grandchildren Paula and Brett Stalbaum, Angie and Monty Creach, Jason and Stacey Lyle, Amy and Shawn Olsen and great grandchildren Bobby, Cameron and Jayde Creach, Cole and Cassie Lyle and Aubrey Olsen.
