John Varvaro, 94, of Columbia, MO passed away, Wednesday November 15, 2017 at his home. Private family services will be held later.
John was born January 14, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to Frank and Anna Accari Varvaro. In 1944, he married Margaret Vieira in Oakland, CA. A WWII Veteran, he served just under 3 years in the Army and was stationed in New Guinea as a Medical Technician before he was Honorably Discharged in October 1945.

Moving back west in 1965, he worked for Kaiser Steel as a Warehouse Superintendent in Napa, California. Living in nearby Calistoga, CA he raised a vineyard; selling grapes to major wine producers, and saving enough grapes to make the family’s wine. He retired in 1988, and in 1991 moved with Margaret to Columbia, MO. He enjoyed a long retirement; playing plenty of golf and spending time with his family.
