Loretta Irene Rota
A life-long Napa resident, Loretta Irene Rota was born on April 13, 1931 to Maria and Joseph Ponzo. She died on Sunday, December 3, 2017. Loretta married her husband of 67 years, Roy Rota, on April 16, 1950. Together they purchased their first and only home in Napa where they raised their family. Roy and Loretta owned Riverside Service on First Street in Napa. They ran the business together, until Roy retired in 1981. Together they enjoyed a life of amazing outdoor adventures, social activities, and gardening. Loretta was an active supporter of Saint John’s Catholic Church for many years. She’ll forever be remembered for creating many, many amazing Italian feasts for family celebrations. Loretta is survived by her husband Roy Rota, her daughters, Jacqueline Hartley (husband John Hartley) of Napa, Marilyn Erwin (husband John Erwin) of Longview Washington, and son Joseph Rota of Calico Rock, Arkansas, her brother-in-law Ernest Rota, and her nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren: Christopher Erwin, Matthew Erwin, Hannah Euser, Lucas Euser (wife Rachel Euser), Jessica Eads (husband Eric Eads), and Roy Joseph Rota. Loretta was able to meet her newest great-granddaughter, Roslyn Rose Euser, before passing. The family would like to thank the staff at The Berkshire, nurses of Collabria Hospice, and the staff of Your Home Nursing Service for their compassionate and loving care along with personal caregivers Esther, Ann, and Ashley. A viewing will be held at 1:00pm followed by a service to celebrate Loretta’s life at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 8 at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home.
