Norma Winifred (Jungert) DeArmond, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2017, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Norma was born August 15, 1932, in Cottonwood, Idaho, daughter of Willie and Ora (Smith) Jungert. Norma graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1950. On November 11, 1951, Norma married Willard DeArmond of Grangeville, Idaho. Norma and Willard began the early years of their 65 years of married life farming--first on Willard's family farm, and then after a short period of time, their own 120-acre ranch. Four of their five children were born in Grangeville.
In 1963, Norma and Willard relocated to Napa, California. Their fifth child was born a short three months later. Norma attended Napa Junior College, and continued her education to obtain her Real Estate Broker's License, selling real estate in Napa for many years. Norma and Willard were landlords of several residential properties in Napa and Sacramento.
Norma was a member of the Napa Valley Art Association. She was an avid painter and photographer, attended frequent square-dance events with her husband, and liked spending her time doing needlecrafts (crocheting, knitting, quilting, embroidery) and flower gardening. Norma and Willard also loved to travel with their RV throughout the United States and Canada.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, and their son, Nicholas. Survivors include four daughters: Sylvia DeArmond Ries and husband, Jeffery, Placerville, CA; Joyce DeArmond Baude, Roseville, CA; Nancy DeArmond, Roseville, CA; Linda DeArmond Battles, Roseville, CA; and by three grandchildren: Steven Ries, Terilyn Baude, and Brandon Battles; and five great-grandchildren: Anjela Ries, Crystal Ries, Daniel Ries, Taeloni Lee and Kawika Hackett; as well as several nieces and nephews.
