A life-long Vallejo resident, Phyllis Lorraine Neely 93 years young passed away on 12/11/17 at Heartwood Convalescent Center in Vallejo
Phyllis was born at Vallejo General on Tennessee St. in 1924. She never married. Phyllis graduated from Vallejo High School in 1942 and belonged to the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She attended Armstrong College in Berkeley from 1942-1944. She received her degree in Secretarial Science. Everyone knew “If you wanted something done right ask Phyllis to do it.”
She worked for the Silverado Area Council, BSA for 42 years. as the Office Manager and Secretary for 4 Professional Scout Executives. Phyllis processed and kept advancement records on more than 50,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts and 2,000 Sea Scouts. Phyllis kept records and processed over 1,400 Eagle Scouts. She worked with over 5,000 Adult Volunteers. She worked in the summer at Camp Silverado as the trading post Director. Phyllis ordered supplies and food for summer camps.
Phyllis belonged to the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She was President of the Soroptimist International of Vallejo 2 times. Phyllis was Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the YWCA & she was a member of the Vallejo Women’s Club and Treasurer of the Class of ‘42 Reunion Committee.
Phyllis loved Giants Baseball and went to 20 Summer Training Camps in Arizona. She asked to be buried in her Giants Baseball shirt and Boy Scout Camp Staff Jacket.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday the 14th of January 2018 at 2:00pm at Skyview Memorial Lawn located at 200 Rollingwood Drive in Vallejo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Diablo Silverado, Boy Scouts of America.
