Thomas Patrick Savage passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 5, 2017 while on a golf trip with friends in Rancho Mirage, CA.

Born to Clement and Lucretia Savage on December 10, 1942 in Glendale, CA. He attended Franciscan Catholic Schools (San Roque & Mission Santa Barbara Seminary), college at Mission San Luis Rey, graduated St Mary’s College, and received his teaching credential from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Tom was married to Mary Michele Mohr for 47 years, and has resided in Napa for the past 49 years. He is survived by his children Brian, Dennis (Heather) & Mike (Danielle) of Napa and Nicole of Gilbert AZ, and 6 grandchildren, his sibling’s Mary Savage-Skare (Daryl), Grace Polan (Chuck) Damien Joseph (Star), Eugene (Penny) and Francis (Gladys) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Michele, brother John, his parents and his nephews Patrick Savage and John Skare.

For over 4 decades, Tom taught at Redwood Middle School and served as a coach and referee for the local and county school system. His love of learning transpired into his teachings, becoming a mentor to countless youth and community members. Tom’s greatest passions were his love of God, family and sports.

Both Michele and Tom will always be remembered by their family and friends for their active service with the St. Apollinaris parish in many volunteer roles. One of their greatest joys was conducting marriage and engaged encounters in the Santa Rosa diocese. His family, children, grandchildren were the core of his existence and the joy and pleasure in his life. Each held a special place in his heart; this will forever be his legacy along with his enduring sense of humor.

A rosary will be held at St. Apollinaris Church, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 7:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Apollinaris Church, Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM.

Tom would ask that friends to remember him by with Donations to either the Carmelite House of Prayer Building Fund (PO Box 347, Oakville, CA 94562) or the Patrick Savage Memorial Fund (Non-Profit Org for Youths, 3572 Sandybrook Ln., Napa, CA 94558)
