Good morning, everyone.

I’ve become a huge fan of working on staying fit. I find that I have more energy, sleep better, and feel younger, stronger — lots of pluses. One of my favorite ways of feeling fit is the Essentrics Class I take with Julie Webster, which I’ve been taking for several months. Check out Napa Senor Activity Center’s Thursday class, “Essentrics Aging Backwards” at 1:15 p.m.

I find that I can do more things easier and faster. It wasn’t all that easy at first, getting into the habit of working out, or making a point of doing physical things around the house and yard, but the benefits are great.

We’re all living longer, so we should do everything we can to make the living longer, fun.

Speaking of fun, it’s almost time for the next Retirement Renewal Forum. Kal Edwards, who brings us these fascinating Forums, tells us that the new Forum, “Aging in Place” was a topic that many attendees wanted to know more about.

So, mark your calendar for Tuesday, May 1, 5:30-7 p.m. at Collabria Care in the Gasser Community Room, 414 S. Jefferson St., Napa.

The topic will be ”Challenges and Solutions of Aging in Place — Preparing to Live the Life you Can Enjoy”.

The Forum will address such questions as: Where will you live in your later years? Remain in your own home? Move to a retirement community? Go where the grandkids are?

The featured speaker will be Dr. Sara Zeff Geber, nationally-known authority on aging in place.

Dr. Geber has written extensively about living options for seniors in USA Today’s “Best Places to Retire” series, the Huffington Post’s “Aging Baby Boomers”, and author of the recent book, “Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers,” which is a retirement roadmap for single and childless adults.

Attendees will also learn how to make informed decisions at this transition time in our lives. Timely topics include safety and quality of life, risk tolerance, building and maintaining social support, and — most importantly — how to prepare now for the care you will need later.

Kal reminds us that The Retirement Renewal Forums are part of the Community Conversation Series sponsored by Collabria Care and Aegis Living of Napa.

Happily, these wonderful Forums are all under the direction of Kal Edwards, Forum Founder and retirement renewal specialist.

Available at the Forum will be a special resource guide, as well as Dr. Geber’s latest book.

Admission is always free at the Forum and refreshments will be served. Free parking is available. I would make a reservation in a timely fashion as the Forums always fill up quickly. The word is out. We always enjoy these Forums and everyone else who attends must enjoy them as well, since this will be their third year of the Forums. It’s Kal’s and his team’s desire to present and explore the latest research and strategies for change of life management and wellness awareness for the community.

I’ve learned that, in the Forum’s case, it’s advisable to get the word out early, as they are so very popular, and I wouldn’t want you to miss it.

Admission is always free at the Forums and refreshments will be served. Early reservations are recommended by calling 707-258-9087 ext. 272 or healthedcoordinator@collabriacare.org

It was great to have this time with you all. Have a wonderful week and we’ll visit again next Sunday.

Love hearing from you at: bettyrrhodes@sbcglobal.net
